Main Reasons to Downgrade Opera

Software developers are always trying to improve their products, to add newest and most useful features. But sometimes old versions provide more functionality than newer ones. Same thing is about Opera – sometimes there are reasons to downgrade this popular browser to a more stable version. Here are some I personally met in my work:

  • Working with Webmoney Keeper Light. The famous Russian payment system uses certificates, that cannot be installed on recent versions of Opera. You will need to downgrade Opera to version 10 to make it working.
  • Roboform. Only most recent version of Roboform supports Opera 12, if you have an old license, you will have to revert Opera to version 11.
  • Google Maps. Some users speak that  you can’t use google maps in Opera 12  because you’ll just be dragging the picture instead of dragging the view.
  • Shortcuts you’ve used for previous builds. For example, Shift+P is not working for print preview in Opera 12. Now you need to press Ctrl+Shift+P to do the same

There may be some more reasons to downgrade Opera, e.g. you don’t like its new appearance. Let me tell you how to do this on Microsoft Windows.

If you are using a normal installation of Opera (not Portable), you should follow these links:

Opera 10-12
Opera 3-11

I am using portable version of Opera – you can check this site for older versions.
